NOTE-ABLE 2024 Online Instrumental Music Competition:
Official Rules
1. NOTE-ABLE is now open to young instrumentalists from anywhere in the world. There is a JUNIOR category for ages 6 to 8, an INTERMEDIATE category for ages 9 to 13 and, a SENIOR category for ages 14 – 18 (ages as on May 1st 2024). All entrants should be IN SCHOOL OR HOME-SCHOOLED
Only one entry is permitted per category!
2. Any instrument (except voice) and any style of music can be submitted. Music must be in a notated form in order for the judges to properly evaluate the performance. SOME improvisation is acceptable if it is in keeping with the style of music being presented. Original compositions are also accepted.
3. Entrants should submit ONE performance video (in MP4 or MOV format) and ONE copy of the score (ideally in PDF format) by filling in the online registration form, paying the competition submission fee and uploading the video and score onto the registration form. Confirmation of receipt of submission will be sent to entrant. CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES IS SUNDAY, APRIL 21st. 2024

In the event that the competition cannot go ahead due to insufficient entries and/or sponsorship all entry fees will be repaid in full. This will be via Bank transfer for New Zealand entrants or Paypal for overseas entrants
4. Video performances should (ideally) not exceed 5 minutes. Excessively long videos should be trimmed or they will be trimmed on behalf of the entrant. Confirmation of receipt of video and score will be sent to each entrant.
5. All properly registered video files will be delivered to members of the NOTEABLE jury for evaluation and judging
6. After completing its judging, the panel of jurors will select the SEMIFINALISTS in each category.
7. The Semifinalists will be revealed during the course of the NOTEABLE Semifinal show which will be streamed on the NOTE-ABLE You Tube Channel on Sunday, May 12th. Those chosen to be Semi-finalists are NOT notified PRIOR to the show.
8. If a competitor is chosen as a Semi-finalist, they will then be required to submit a SECOND performance video by Sunday, June 23rd. A separate Video Submission form will be provided for this purpose.
9. This second performance will be used along with the first to help the Judges decide the three Finalists in each category and other special prize winners.
10. As well as a performance video semi-finalists are also expected to provide a video bio (around 60 to 90 seconds).
11.The Finalists will be revealed in the NOTE-ABLE GRAND FINALE Show which will stream on the NOTE-ABLE YouTube Channel on Sunday, July 21st. Prize winners will be announced during the show. Players chosen to be Prize winners will NOT be notified PRIOR to the show.
12. In addition to the main Prizes and Special Judges’ Prizes in each category the members of the NOTE-ABLE team, at their discretion, may present special encouragement awards (ALL ENTRANTS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THESE! )
13.The jury and the main organizer of the competition reserve the right NOT to award first place in any of the competition categories in the case that the quality requirements and criteria are not met.
14. In the event of the 2024 competition being cancelled for any reason all entry fees will be reimbursed in full (via bank transfer or paypal).
15. By entering the competition, the contestant agrees to respect and follow the competition rules and their revisions and also to respect the competition organisers and accept the results and judgments of the jury, which are firm and binding.
